Employee spotlight: Nadezda navigates regulatory field with curiosity

Meet Nadezda, Convera’s Global Regulatory Lead, driving compliance and innovation worldwide. Explore her journey and our culture of growth.

If you’ve ever wondered what keeps Convera’s global operations in harmony with regulators around the world, meet Nadezda, our Global Regulatory Reporting and Safeguarding Lead. With a history stretching back 15 years at Convera, she’s been a steady hand helping to ensure we stay in good standing with central banks and financial supervisors around the world, while navigating the company’s transformative journey.

The heart of Convera’s operations

Nadezda is based in Vilnius, Lithuania at the beating heart of Convera’s global operations. “I grew up in Klaipeda, on Lithuania’s Sea coast where my family settled due my father’s career as a Marine Captain of cargo vessels,” says Nadezda. “I moved to Vilnius after high school to study and eventually to pursue my career, but I am still very attached to the sea and the atmosphere of port cities.”

Nadezda’s voyage to Convera began way back when the business was initially acquired by Western Union. “I was drawn to the company back then because it offered the chance to help build something new. Now, 15 years later, we’ve started an exciting new chapter as Convera, and I’m just as enthusiastic about shaping its future,” she says.

Global compliance in motion

Today Nadezda is steering global regulatory efforts with a mix of technical expertise and a people-first approach. “Every day is a mix of conversations with a range of stakeholders and team members in different parts of the world,” says Nadezda. “One moment I’ll be covering HR questions and the next I’m delving into technical language schemes. I find the variety in what I do very inspiring, and it keeps me motivated every day.”

“It’s a role that demands agility and precision. I spend a lot of time on data analysis, investigations, reviewing regulations, and coordinating global workflows. People in accounting are known for their sharp eye for detail and passion for well-structured processes,” she laughs.

Big wins and bold moves

Several major initiatives have been in focus for Nadezda recently. She has developed a daily safeguarding report for new Canadian regulation, led the set up of new reporting package for a Maltese regulator, helmed a project to automate the manual collection of data, and supported the transition of tasks from our Vendor partners in France and the Czech Republic.

“I think being proactive, well-organized and willing to learn new things are also key to this role,” she explains. “Knowledge of accounting and reporting standards, evolving market regulations, business reporting language is important too. We manage a high volume of tasks and must maintain speed, quality, curiosity and good understanding of technology.”

Why Convera?

When asked what makes Convera a unique place to work, Nadezda speaks about flexibility, dynamics, and ambition. “I love having the opportunity to shape and improve processes here at Convera. The culture is built around giving employees autonomy to make decisions and really contribute to the company’s goals.

“I also enjoy the healthy mix of technical challenges and people-focused work,” she continues. “This is what gets me out of bed every day, along with the fact that the company is always evolving, and this constant drive for improvement matches my own character and keeps me engaged.”

We always like to spotlight something fun about our employees, and Nadezda surprises us with her answer. “Despite working in accounting roles with a number of international companies, I never actually studied accounting at university!” she reveals.  “I kept missing those courses because I was away on exchange programs multiple times. But learning on the go has always been my strength and it opened the door to a leadership career in accounting at Convera”.

Looking ahead

“Convera is a great place to work. There is lots of opportunity to grow both personally and professionally here,” says Nadezda. “It’s also an exciting environment. Being part of this constantly evolving company is truly fascinating, and I’m energized about seeing how far this journey will take us.”
