Employee spotlight: How Jo strengthens Convera’s workplace culture

Meet Jo Pope, Senior Workplace Operations Manager at Convera, and learn how her work supports well-being, growth, and connection.

Jo Pope has spent seven years as our Senior Workplace Operations Manager, helping Convera’s people feel supported, connected, and able to do their best work. Based in the UK and also supporting offices in Zurich, Jo’s remit goes far beyond buildings and logistics. Her work sits at the intersection of employee experience, wellbeing, and the practical realities of running a global business.

In a company that powers cross-border payments for customers around the world, Jo helps create the environments where teams collaborate, innovate, and deliver for customers. Her story reflects Convera’s belief that strong outcomes start with people who feel valued and heard.

A varied career path and an appetite for challenges

Jo’s professional journey is anything but linear. She grew up in a small town in Cambridgeshire before building a career that spans childcare, international living, and multiple industries.

“After training as a nanny,” explains Jo, “I spent several years working in France and Ibiza, experiences that helped me become more adaptable and confident in new environments. I have lots of fond memories of those years.”

Jo went on to work across residential property management, renewable energy sites, call centre leadership, and IT and telecommunications. “My career has been really varied, and every role has sharpened my skill set, from operational problem solving to people leadership. All of it informs how I approach my work at Convera today,” Jo reflects.

After years with smaller organizations, Jo was ready for a new challenge. “It was a chance introduction while hiking in the mountains of Yorkshire that led me to Convera! I was immediately attracted to the opportunity to work for a global company,” she says.

Supporting people through everyday moments and big initiatives

As Senior Workplace Operations Manager, Jo’s days are deliberately varied. Some are taken up by routine tasks like managing supplier accounts, invoices, or organizing employee engagement events.

“Other days are more reactive,” she continues. “I might find myself suddenly responding to a maintenance issue, surprise office requests, or an unexpected challenge that comes with supporting busy workplaces.”

At its core, Jo’s role is about enabling people. When offices function well, teams can focus on serving customers and partners across borders and time zones. Jo’s work helps ensure that Convera’s physical workplaces reflect the professionalism and care the company brings to its payments solutions.

Jo’s work extends well beyond facilities though. “I recently drove the roll-out of an international mental health program, helping to embed wellbeing into everyday working life at Convera. I find it inspiring that initiatives like this are key part of our workplace culture,” she says.

Jo’s commitment to this area has seen her shortlisted for Mental Health Advocate of the Year at the 2026 Great British Workplace Wellbeing Awards, recognition that speaks to both her personal passion and Convera’s focus on employee wellbeing.

Culture built on listening, collaboration, and growth

Jo describes success in her role as balancing multitasking with being genuinely social. “I really enjoy being in the office, it’s how I pick up on small issues before they become big ones. It also helps me build relationships across teams which is important for what I do day-to-day.”

When asked what she values most about Convera, Jo describes a company that is open to ideas. “There is a willingness to listen to initiatives that enhance the workplace, whether it’s wellbeing, collaboration, or how offices support hybrid ways of working. I believe that openness encourages people to contribute beyond their job descriptions and shape how the company grows.”

For Jo, Convera’s culture is defined by the opportunity to learn, to take on new challenges, and to influence how a young but ambitious global company develops.

Motivation beyond the workplace

Outside of work, Jo brings the same energy and commitment to her personal life. She is a volunteering enthusiast, making full use of Convera’s five volunteer days each year to support causes that align with her values and help her develop new skills.

“I love taking on physical and creative challenges,” enthuses Jo. “From completing 100 kilometre walks, to joining a choir to raise money for a local hospice. I’m always testing my limits and giving back to the community.”

At home, Jo lives with her teenage son and three cats. “Yes, I’m one of those people!” she laughs.

Looking ahead with purpose

What excites Jo most about Convera’s future is its sense of momentum. “This company is still quite young, with a clear goal and the ambition to keep improving how it supports both customers and employees. That’s very exciting and I can’t wait to see how we evolve,” Jo concludes.

As Convera continues to help organizations move money securely and efficiently around the world, people like Jo ensure that the teams behind those services have places they are proud to work in.
