For Anna Skaburskas, working in global payments is as much about people as it is about processes. Nearly seven years into her career at Convera, Anna brings consistency, care, and deep operational knowledge to a role that sits at the heart of customer trust.
Based in Peterborough, Anna is a Customer Support Associate in the UK Payment Reminder team. Her journey reflects both the company’s global nature and its commitment to developing people over time.
From her first role in operations to her current customer-facing position, Anna’s work connects directly to Convera’s purpose of enabling businesses to move money with confidence, wherever they operate.
A global perspective shaped early
Originally from Narva, Estonia, Anna grew up in a border city known for its cultural diversity. “I loved growing up in an environment shaped by different languages and perspectives, which has given me skills that translate well into a role in global payments,” she says.
In 2018, Anna moved to the UK with her husband and took an unexpected leap into a position with a foreign exchange company. Quickly realizing the industry suited her analytical mindset, it wasn’t long before Anna made the move to Convera, joining the Cheque Processing department in our Peterborough office.
That first role marked the beginning of a steady, deliberate career progression at Convera.
Growing her customer support career with Convera
Since joining in 2019, Anna has expanded her responsibilities year after year. She moved from independently managing cheque operations to becoming a subject matter expert and a key point of contact for cross-regional collaboration.
Along the way, Anna developed a reputation for reliability, attention to detail, and a calm, solutions-focused approach to complex payment queries.
“Today, my role on the UK Payment Reminder team involves supporting both clients and internal stakeholders with incoming and outgoing payments,” explains Anna, “I help monitor overdue payments, guide customers through next steps, and work closely with colleagues across functions to resolve issues efficiently.”
“Clear communication and accuracy are essential,” she says. “Particularly in an environment where trust and timeliness matter.”
Balancing accuracy, collaboration, and care
No two days are the same for Anna. She manages multiple priorities while responding to queries and collaborating with teams across regions to keep payment processes running smoothly. Anna is also the point of contact for escalations and more complex issues within her area of expertise.
Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, Anna contributes to process improvements within the Collections function.
“Recently, I’ve been involved in initiatives to improve efficiency and consistency, by developing and sharing best practices with cross-regional teams. The goal is to ensure high service standards are maintained as the business scales.”
Success in her role requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, and effective time management. “It’s really important to have a supportive mindset,” she says. “Working in payments often means helping customers navigate challenging situations. This demands a proactive, calm, and solution-focused mindset.”
Life at Convera and beyond the office
Ask Anna what she values most about working at Convera, and the answer is immediate: the people.
“I value the culture of collaboration at Convera. Everyone’s effort is recognized and the company’s global footprint and diverse teams create an environment where learning from others is part of everyday work. It’s an environment where you can grow, contribute, and make a real impact.” Anna says.
Outside of work, Anna’s interests reflect both discipline and creativity. She has loved sport since childhood, starting with gymnastics before moving into volleyball,
“My colleagues might not be aware that I was an Estonian national champion in Volleyball, and I also graduated from music school with a specialization in piano. I love learning and am currently studying economics and finance with the Open University.”
